Arise

ARISE

To the glorious three that vindicate, radiate, and intoxicate.
I arise today
Knowing that I have been invited to another day
Of renewed mercy and opportunities of justice.

May the glory of God be revealed in my seeing
May the glory of God be received in my hearing
May the glory of God be heard in my speaking

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord
May I trust in the Lord this day

God of creation
May I be that tree that is planted by water.
Christ of redemption
Help me to not fear when heat comes and may the leaves remain green.
Spirit of comfort
Calm my heart in the year of drought
So that my tree does not cease to bear fruit.

Amen Amen Amen

"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares."

~Henri Nouwen
